Hello Everyone!!!! I'm on a rocky mountain high being able
to email friends and family! It makes me so happy... (I'm sitting here laughing
to myself and everyone is thinking I’m crazy.... better sooner than later they
figure that out.) I love you all so much, and I REALLY appreciate the
emails and letters! I seriously LIVE FOR MAIL (even though I love being a
missionary, all who have gone will understand that missionaries live for mail.)
But I apologize for being so terrible and not writing back! today I hope to get
a lot written! Fingers crossed. Time just flies out here, like seriously I
can't believe that my first transfer is almost over! WOW! I have loved serving
with Sister Burnett, and I'm going to miss her so much if we split up. (which
we are kinda thinking will happen....) we just get along so well and so it's
been such a blessing!
| SIS BURNETT ELDER FADIKA ME & CUPCAKES |
I included a pic with me sis burnett and Elder Fadika (my
zoneleader) and it was his birthday. so we made cupcakes and sang him happy
birthday (and you had better believe that we sang him a gospel arrangement that
we made up in the car with snaps and claps and choir “hoos”. needless to say,
he loved it!) He is the funniest guy! So spiritual, and just awesome! and then
out of nowhere he will let his swag show and I just die laughing. haha.
For some reason Colorado has the most intense lightning
storms... last week the whole sky was lit up for hours with hundreds of
different flashes. It was cray cray! hehe.
Funny story! So yesterday we went out tracting but decided
to go "hymn caroling" as a door approach. We sang patriotic songs for
'Merica! hahaha. But we were sad that some people don't love 'merica as
much as us. haha. Some people let us sing, and really enjoyed, and they
were caught off guard and agreed to let us come back to share the gospel with
them which will be way cool! But one guy said, sing maybe some other
time.... Sir I'm sorry but America has a birthday only once a year.....
Kind of a big deal. We would sing one verse of a song, and then talk
about the blessing of living in America and being able to have religious
freedom. We sang for a lady who has been a Buddhist for 40 years and
that was really cool! We really have SO much to be grateful for! The fact
that I can walk around telling people about something I love so much, the
Gospel, is really a blessing! Some places people can't say things like
that. I hope we all take the time this week to think about the blessed
place we live. I'll be the first to say that our country has its
problems... more and more every day it seems.... But, the Lord promised the
people in the Book of Mormon so many times that this land was to be a land of
liberty IF the people would follow the Savior. So if we keep doing our
thing and standing up for what is right, and sharing the Gospel any small way
we can, we personally can have peace and strength in this crazy world. I
had an institute teacher who would get all Riled up and say "you had
better believe that the Red White and Blue will still be flying when the Savior
comes again".... That gave me a little peace, but I know there is a lot to
be nervous about....
I invite you to read Ether 2:12... This morning I drew an
American flag in the verse.
I live with a member who is a therapist for Veterans who suffer
from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, and I have a whole new appreciation for
men and women who are in the Service. Whenever Sister Burnett and I see
men or women in uniform we stop and be sure to thank them for their service,
because our military people give SO much. Actually, I found out that 4th
of July is a hard thing for Vets because of the fireworks exploding and
everything.... So I hope we appreciate a little bit more this 4th of July the
blessings that we have.
We are a really blessed people. Seriously!!!!!! The
Lord has given us so much, and He loves us so much! Even with all of the
blessings we have, the best gift He ever gave us was His Son Jesus
Christ. I love my Savior so much, and feel so honored to be out in the
Vineyard, laboring with Him. I LOVE the Book of Mormon, and get so
excited for my study time! I hope each of us will try a little bit harder to
feast more on the Word, because it will fill you up completely!
I love you all!!! Seriously, I hope everyone will have a great
4th of July. Some things I'll miss will be: watermelon, Fillmore parade with
scalding hot main street under my feet & the sun in my eyes, BBQ with the
family, playing catch, listening to music, driving the windows rolled down, and
gathering at the softball field to watch the fireworks with my family.
Ah... But know I'm happy and I'll have a good 4th myself. It will be
different, but great!
Peace n Blessins, Peace n Blessins.... and as usual,
Onward Christian Soldiers!
From me to you, Kinzie Lou
