Hello everyone!!!
Wow, I can't believe that only 2 days have gone by! I feel
like I have been here for weeks. But then yesterday I was thinking that
was the LONGEST day of my life! But I love this place!!! I love my
companion, sister Rosier. She is so patient with me. Seriously, my
life motto always has been "better late than never" and people are
always waiting on me! I'm slow getting ready, I'm slow at eating, I'm slow at
gathering up my things, but I make up for it in walking. I inherited my
dad's lovely ability for brisk walking! haha. I love my roommates (there
are 6 of us) and I'm just grateful that I'm a really heavy sleeper
because there is always someone tossing or turning or someone talking about
math in their sleep.! (haha sister knowlton, she's great.) I have seen
people that I know here at the MTC and it is THE BEST place to see people
because I know we are all enlisted in this great cause together! it's so
exciting.
So the first night here, we had a teaching experience.
There was like 30 of us sitting in a room, and then a man walks in and sits
down on the couch, puts his feet up on the table and is eatin doritos - just
really making himself at home. Well apparently it was his
"home" and we were the guests. He invites us missionaries in and then
we are just thrown in the cold water. We all are "companions"
teaching this man. I just have to say there are interesting people
here. I'm sure people think I'm "interesting" too. haha. But it
was so neat, our first lesson didn't go well, and I didn't feel the spirit at
all. We weren't listening to him or concerns just trying to shove the
gospel down his throat. They moved us to the next room and the lady there
was an absolute hoot! I was dying she was so funny. There were some
moments when the spirit was there, but not many, she was mostly confused.
We went into our last appointment with an Italian man who was talking to a
picture of his dead wife when we came in. He had a lot of questions about
family and he needed peace. The spirit was in the room so strong and I
was crying (what else is new?) He said the analogy of putting butter in
the microwave and it comes out as a plate of melted butter. He said his heart
was feeling that way. Well my heart has been feeling that way too.
I love the Gospel, SO MUCH! It is true, and it is amazing
how it works. When me and my companion were trying to plan a lesson, it
was hard to not automatically phase into other topics because they all relate
and mesh so well. It just is right in my heart and my head. I am amazed
at how little I can know about a person, and already love them. I feel
like the Lord has blessed my heart so that I feel a sliver of what He feels for
those people. I know that God loves all of us, all of you, for all those
funny quirks that make you you. For all those talents and gifts you have,
He has given them to you and loves you when you use them. I know that He
isn't bound by time. He is so patient, and long-suffering. He loves you
so much and wants to bless you and have you return to Him. I need to
be more patient with people and myself because God doesn't care more about
where we are on the path, He just wants us on that path that leads to
Him. Use the Atonement and be patient with yourself and with
others. We will get there.
I just am SOOOO EXCITED FOR DENVER! Rumor has it my mission
president is such a great man. I can't wait to meet him.
My P day is today, (Friday) obviously, so I will be looking
forward to writing again next week.
ps dearelder.com is free
and it gets to me the next day. (denver north mission!)
I just want to say THANK YOU. Thank you so much for all the
love and support that you have shown. I am one blessed woman. Know
that I pray for you all back home. I miss you, (not too much cuz it's
only been 2 days guys. let's be real. haha) kidding! (kinda) OK ENOUGH
WITH THE PARENTHESIS ALREADY MAKINZIE! hahaha. I LOVE YOU ALL SO MUCH!
I hope we each can find some small way to show kindness
to people around us. That's the Savior's way.
Onward Christian Soldiers!!!!!!!!!
