Let's be honest, most people in our generation speak viral videos as a second language! All I have to say is "Ain't nobody got time fo that" and you know exactly what I'm talking about!! In social media we all are looking for and sharing that hilarious new Youtube video we found. It is something we all can have in common.
When we think about it, those viral videos have so much power! I think of the silly "Gangnam Style" song and video. The first time I heard the song I absolutely hated it (first off because I couldn't understand it and was wondering what the crap it was saying.) But I got suckered into watching the music video without music and I died laughing. But that is a globally famous music video regardless of where you live or what language you speak, everyone knows how to Gangnam Style...
There are more and more musicians or bands that have become famous through viral videos (good ol Justin Beiber and Walk off the Earth, and many more) So people don't have to jump through the music industry's hoops, they can go a different route via our friend Youtube.
But on the more serious side, I think of viral videos with a political or a social message (think back to Kony 2012). In countries where media is still censored, those people have more and more access to information through viral videos and blogs and other alternative media. And that's a way cool thing.
So all in all, viral videos are a huge part of our lives, have fun discovering them my friends.
From me to you, Kinzie Lou
