Change is inevitable. This I have found to be true, especially in our world of ever-changing technology that in essence, you can never have the newest coolest thing because the next big thing is already here. I don't really love to compete in that sickening rat race, instead I find things I love, I adjust to them, I get a nice routine going, and I roll with it. Years ago, I was hesitant to get Facebook, and a smartphone because that is just more change. But as I did, I have loved the tools they offer and I like my routine I've established. But now I'm in a social media class at Utah State University, and technology change is once again knocking at my door. I have set up this nifty new blog and also succumbed to the monster that is twitter. (Now that I've taken a look around Twitter, I don't think it is that bad.)
I love journal writing, but find it hard to dedicate the time needed to make it as descriptive and fun as I would love it to be. So this blog seems like a great way to voice my opinions, share bit of me with you, and have a little fun along the way. I read a blog post on tips for blog time management. http://bloggingwithamy.com/blogging-time-management/ because I was nervous to get a blog because it's "just one more thing for me to waste my time on." But just like anything, I'm finding, if managed well, it can be a great thing.
Because I'm new to this game, I read tips every blogger should know. http://shine.yahoo.com/work-money/wisdom-bloggers-top-10-tips-first-time-bloggers-150800428.html I am taking those tips in stride and am excited to share my voice.
Blogging is another great way to connect with people and to read people's stories! It's amazing when I take the time to just look at all of the people around me, and I think of all of the stories they are writing every second of the day. The couple holding hands is definitely writing a love story (hopefully not a tragedy), the character in the long trench coat is maybe in a sci-fi, the two jock football players swag-walking around are writing a sports section of the paper. And then there is me. What story am I writing? I would like to think that it is a story about a girl who loves to smile and laugh and sing and dance. A girl that loves people and hates mud. A girl that loves performing but is easily embarrassed. Her story is a mystery to me; I'm staring at the blank page. But that's the beauty of writing our lives, the unexpected twists and turns, plot changes, surprise loves, and disapointments are what makes up a truly beautiful piece of literature.
This blog post is definitely not chapter one of my story, but it's fun to think that the previous and next chapters can be captured and shared with others.
...... From me to you, Kinzie Lou
